Information You Submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search form is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the result. Albany Residents Directory does not keep its own copy of those search entries. If you contact us, we receive the details in your message and use them to respond.
Information Collected Automatically
Our hosting provider may keep routine server logs such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. We review those signals in aggregate to maintain the service and understand which Albany reference pages are useful. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement.
How We Use It
Limited data helps operate the pages, troubleshoot faults, measure traffic, and improve the reference. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual user profiles.
Outside Portals and Links
Pages may link to the Alameda County Clerk-Recorder, the Alameda County Assessor and court portals, California agencies, Alameda County Library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Each outside service has its own privacy rules. Those rules govern information submitted there, including the sponsored results supplied by a third-party company.
Who May Receive It
Hosting and technical service providers may process server-log information while supporting the pages. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic data described above. We disclose information when valid legal process requires it, and otherwise limit disclosure to the purposes stated here.
Security and Retention
The connection is encrypted, and logs are retained only for as long as the purposes above require. Albany Residents Directory has no user accounts, so it does not hold a password or user profile that could be exposed here.
Visitors Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information, contact us and we will remove it from the data we control.
Your California Privacy Rights
California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act/California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), Civil Code §§1798.100 et seq. Depending on coverage and exceptions, those rights can include knowing what personal information is collected, requesting deletion or correction, limiting certain sensitive-information use, and opting out of sale or sharing. Because Albany Residents Directory retains very little, a request usually involves checking the contact mailbox and the logs we control.
The Delete Act, Civil Code §1798.99.80 et seq., provides a deletion mechanism for registered data brokers and does not erase government source records. Public records held by the City of Albany, Alameda County, or California offices remain under the control of their custodians. Use the Contact page for a request about data held here; direct removal questions about a public record to the office that maintains it.
Policy Changes
When this policy changes, the revised text will appear here. Continued use of Albany Residents Directory after an update indicates acceptance of the revised policy.
